Pizza Unesco Heritage

It is the 9th of December 2017 when the Pizza becomes Patrimonio dell’umanità, a world heritage site! The twelfth UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Committee, meeting in session on the island of Jeju, positively assessed the Italian candidacy.

Because making pizza is an art and now this ancient craft is recognized as a world heritage site. The work of the UNESCO Committee is ended on December 9th and only at the end of this last session the recognition of the Art of the Neapolitan pizza chef was officially ratified, beginning the official celebrations.

The work of the UNESCO Committee will end on December 9th and only at the end of this last session will the recognition of the Art of the Neapolitan pizza chef be officially ratified, kicking off the official celebrations.

Unesco wanted to recognize as the patrimony of humanity the creativity of the pizza chefs who have been able to transform basic elements such as water and flour into a creation of incredible cultural value that represents Italy in the world.

Pizza is a real pleasure for the palate as for the eyes. Certainly the main importance is the care and selection of raw materials.

There are various sizes, dimensions, shapes and colors. There are those with a filling border and those prepared with the most varied flours. Some love thick and and someone thin. There are those who love a simple Margherita and those who love to add as many ingredients as they can. You can eat it with your hands or with a knife and fork.

That’s why pizza makes everyone happy. Because it can satisfy all the needs and tastes of all people.

The most expensive pizza in the world takes the name of Louis XIII, costs 8,300 euros, has a diameter of 20 cm, a leavened dough 72 hours and is topped with dop buffalo mozzarella, Australian pink salt, caviar, lobster and prawns. This delicacy was created by Renato Viola, pizza maker from Agropoli.

Just to have an idea of what Pizza means in Italy you should know that The business of pizza in Italy is about €15 billion a year, produced by 127,000 bars and pizzerias, all over Italy, where pizzas are served.

If you want to know which ingredients are topped on what is considered the most expensive Pizza of the world, here is the list: dop buffalo mozzarella, Australian pink salt, caviar, lobster and red prawns. The price? Just €8.300 ,  this delicacy was created by Renato Viola, pizza maker from Agropoli.
